Board of Trustees Vacancy

The Franklin-Springboro Public Library (FSPL) has a volunteer opening for a Board of Trustees position.

This is a four-year term, from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029. The time commitment includes one monthly board meeting on the third Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and occasional committee meetings.

Trustees are appointed by the Franklin City School Board. They are expected to govern operations, promote the library's development, and protect community interests.

Qualifications include residing in the library's service area (Franklin, Franklin Township, Carlisle, Springboro, and Clearcreek Township), regular attendance at board meetings, commitment to library services, and a functional knowledge of Ohio library law and principles. Additionally, candidates should understand and support freedom of expression and inquiry.

Key responsibilities include preparing for meetings, establishing policies, overseeing finances, planning and evaluating services, managing library property, supporting the Fiscal Officer and Director, overseeing staff hiring and retention, advocating for the library, and staying informed on relevant issues.

This is a volunteer position without monetary compensation.
