Children's Summer Reading Program

Adventure Begins at Your Library!

The children's summer reading program invites children ages 0-12 to read all summer long and earn prizes. (For all children -- readers and pre-readers -- listening to audiobooks or stories read by someone else count as reading, too.)

Starting Tuesday, May 28, stop by either branch of the Franklin-Springboro Public Library to pick up a reading log and stickers. Then, start reading!

Keep track of the time you spend reading on your reading log, and then come back to the library for fabulous prizes.

Here is a guideline for how to track the amount of time you spend reading:

  • For younger readers, one sticker equals 10 minutes of reading. Every time you read (or are read to) for 10 minutes, put a sticker on the log sheet. It will take approximately 8 hours of reading to complete the log sheet.
  • For older readers, one sticker equals 20 minutes of reading. Every time you read (or are read to) for 20 minutes, put a sticker on the log sheet. It will take approximately 16 hours of reading to complete the log sheet.

Parents / guardians decide whether to consider their child a younger or older reader.

Readers can earn four fabulous prizes and a chance to enter the drawing for grand prizes!

Prizes may be claimed when the log sheet is complete or individually at intervals of 12 stickers each.

Prizes:

  • Level One (12 stickers) -- inflatable ball
  • Level Two (24 stickers) -- choose a toy from the treasure chest
  • Level Three (36 stickers) -- choose a toy from the treasure chest
  • Level Four (48 stickers) -- stuffed animal and entry for the grand prize drawing
