Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI

In the 1920s, the Osage found themselves in a unique position among Native American tribes.  As other tribal lands were parceled out in an effort by the government to encourage dissolution and assimilation of both lands and culture, the Osage negotiated to maintain the mineral rights for their corner of Oklahoma, creating a kind of "underground reservation."  It proved a savvy move; soon countless oil rigs punctured the dusty landscape and the Osage became the richest people per capita in the world.  They rode in chauffeured automobiles, built mansions, and sent their children to study in Europe.  Then, one by one, they began to be killed off....  

Books are available at both library branches.

Santa Visit - Springboro Library

Santa will visit the Franklin and Springboro libraries on Saturday December 9.

He will be at the Franklin Library from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and the Springboro Library from 1 to 3 p.m.

Bring your camera and snap some pictures with St. Nick.

Registration is not required. Stories, songs, and coloring pages will be provided while families wait to meet with Santa.

Trick-or-Treat Preschool Storytime - Springboro

Preschool Storytime is a 30- to 45-minute program for children ages 3 to 5 years. It includes songs, stories, activities, and crafts to encourage the development of literacy skills.

Today's storytime will include a short trick-or-treat experience through the library. Children are encouraged (but not required) to wear costumes and bring a bucket or bag to collect treats.
