Choosing Books for Infants
When choosing books to share with your infant, keep in mind that they are still learning what "books" are. They will want to play with the book and probably even taste them! This is completely normal for an infant at this age. For children at this stage of development, it is best to read board books. Board books are those small, sturdy books made just for babies. Make sure that they have rounded edges to prevent any potential injuries. Also remember that babies cannot distinguish between pale colors until they are several months old, so stick with books that have bright colors and well-defined shapes. Voice variation is another way to capture their interest.
